Oh yeah, we beat Mexico! Not only that, but my boy, Brian McBride put in one of the goals. What a soccer player. For a little bit there I thought maybe the ref's were going to blow the whole thing for us but they didn't. There were quite a few questionable calls in the second half (10 yellow cards?!), I of course was yelling at the TV like an idiot at 3:30 in the morning. Hey, I never said I was completely sane, just a soccer fan. So now on to Germany. Will definitely be a tough one. Unfortunately I will not be able to have off. I need to conserve my vacation days and I think I can survive not seeing it live. It will be painful, but I'm sure I'll live.

Had some very good news on the job front at job #2. I was hired as an editorial assistant! Woo-Hoo! It is not full-time (blah) but it will give me a lot more experience on the copy desk. Basically I'll be doing to obituary page on Sunday nights to run Monday mornings along with whatever else the Metro editor assigns to me. Granted it's more working time but if it gets me full-time job somewhere then so be it.

Saturday I had a very cool experience right here in York. Hard to believe, I know. I went and helped at one of the local Habitat for Humanity sites on Broad St. Getting up at 5 a.m on a Saturday is usually not my cup of tea but it was truly worth it. Building the closets and lifting large 2x6's was hard work, but it was nice to know I was helping someone to have their own home. Besides, I made some new friends and learned the proper way to swing a hammer. If you have the time, I definitely suggest volunteering.
