Maybe I jumped the gun a bit. The visit was not as bad as I expected it to be. Wednesday night everyone was quietly in bed, o.k. Joe, Trevor and I (not the same bed, get your minds out of the gutter), by 11 p.m. and last night when I got home from work at 12:30 a.m. everyone was fast asleep. Sweet. I actually got some decent Z's. Joe and the little one are leaving today to go to Marti's parents house and Brian will only be around until Sunday. Fortunately I will not be around the apartment much today or tomorrow so I can avoid the sexfest that will be going on. Ugh. It just isn't interesting when you're not getting any.
Finally my editor listened to my grovelling and is sending me out to cover a football game tonight. West York vs. Hanover. Clash of the Titans. Ummm, on second thought, clas of the not quite as good as last year high schoolers. Hell, all I care about is that I get to write. Check the website for job #2 tomorrow morning. My story should be posted. Also, on the I don't really have time for this but I'm going to squeeze it in anyway front, I'm going to start playing ice hockey with the women's team from Lancaster. Due to my schedule this month being too tight, I can't start until November but I'll be practicing Tuesday nights and going to games on Saturday afternoons in Lancaster and then away games in Philly, Washington D.C., etc. I can't wait! If anyone had told me 6 months ago I would get sucked into liking this sport so much I would have told them they were crazy. Now I live for Saturday nights when I can put on the skates and kick a little ass on the ice. Best part is we don't get all super competitive like the guys do. What happens on the ice stays on the ice. That's it.
Playing hockey has also given me the chance to getreacquainted with a guy I've known since we were 5, Steve Wagner. Or Stevie as I call him. We started at the same elementary school together before I moved after third grade into the school district I graduated from. He stayed in the same district. We kept in touch off and on through our school years running into each other occasionally at marching band shows and through our parents but that was about it. He went into the Navy after high school and I went on to college. Up until 3 weeks ago it had probably been about 4 or 5 years since the last time I saw him. Funny thing is he doesn't really look much different. He's been working at the rink on the weekends and started coaching our team when our original coach, Mike, started up his season with the kid's league. So now he's my coach and we always rip on each other at practice. Almost like we left off exactly where we were a few years ago. Funny how you can pick up with some people like that.
Better get back to work. The first lunch shift will be returning soon and heaven forbid I get caught on the internet. God I hate this place.
Oh, one more thing. I would like to apologize for the lack of update on Cecilia's page. Due to lack of computer access and a severe case of writer's block I haven't been able to post anything new for quite some time. Never fear. The block has been lifted and new entries will be arriving soon.
