I hadn't intended on writing in the old blog today, but while I have a computer I figured what the heck. Sitting in the Martin Library, making use of my free library card that I've used maybe two or three times. Doing some research into the Ft. Pierce/Port St. Lucie area of Florida. Why would you do such a thing? you may be wondering. I'm glad you asked.

This morning as I was doing laundry, cleaning, blah, blah, blah I received a phone call from a newspaper in Ft. Pierce that is part of a new group of four newspapers servicing the Ft. Pierce, Port St. Lucie, Martin and Indian River counties area. The managing editor saw my resume on journalismjobs.com and decided to call me about a sports, yes I said sports writing position she had open. ACK! I would be writing full time doing more featury pieces (which is the kind of writing I like anyway) as well as some of the same kind of clerking stuff I do now at job #2. I know I have always said I wouldn't move south because I have this horribly low tolerance for heat but just think of the opportunity! It's like fate is smacking me in the back of the head and saying "Do this! This is your second chance to get a full time writing job somewhere. Since you were such a putz the first time around, you better pursue this!" The logistics of such a move are very daunting. And I haven't even been offered the job yet.

Like my optimism? I'm trying not to get ahead of myself, just in case. But Florida. Wow. I've got to at least try.

I'm going to do this. I couldn't stand myself if I let an opportunity to go full time covering sports pass me by. I would be kicking myself in the bum for the rest of my life.
