I can't believe it, a Sunday and I am going to be out of here by 7! Woo-hoo! Out of pure luck I managed to pull in an obit story early today and will be departing the premisis after it gets read through by my Metro editor. Ahhhh. I'm glad I came in early. I will admit, it was a little tough sitting here with the weather as nice as it is. Room mate Marti had a note on the refrig for me after church about meeting her at the pool. Not wanting to be seen too much in a swimsuit I declined and came in to work instead. I'm still recovering from my last battle with sunburn.

My cousin Ricky's wife Jen is having her baby shower next Saturday. There are numerous resons I'm dreading this family event but the main one revolves around my not wanting to dodge the usual comments about my single status. I'm hoping everyone will be too distracted by Jen and my sister's recent engagement to pay too much attention to me. If worse comes to worse I'll just drive myself and leave at the earliest possible moment. Don't get me wrong, Jen is great and I love her like a sister but all of these shower type events are starting to take their toll. I have always said that if I made it to 30 unmarried (which looks more and more likely) I'm going to throw a Woo-Hoo I'm Still Single Shower/Party. I will register at places like Crate & Barrel or Target and people can come and celebrate the fact that I am still a strong, independent young woman.

Yeah right. More like when I turn 30 without a relationship I'll have a major breakdown and go crazy. That's more along the lines of my mentality right now.

Speaking of my sister, a date has been set for the big event. June 18, 2005. Two years away. Two years. My little sister will be walking down the aisle in two years and I will just be happy if I'm close to finishing college (for the second time) by then. Sigh. Funny how life never turns out the way you expected it. There was a point in my own life when I thought by now I'd be married with at least one kid living the good life as a stay at home mom. Now...well...I just don't see it. The marriage thing, yes. If the right guy ever crawls out from whatever rock he's now living under. Kids, would be nice but I'm not too worried about not having any. I'll take dogs, preferably labs.

This weekend was very low key. Friday night I went out to a going away dinner for one of the guys at job #1. We ate some great italian food at a local place. Saturday was my church's picnic where I scooped ice cream for about 4 hours and ate plenty of bad food. Good times. After the picnic I came home, took an unintentional two hour nap (just happened to fall asleep on the couch) and went mini golfing with Bob and Anne. Marti met up with us after we finished and she had finally dumped Mr. Personality. I'm glad that drama is over. Now she has imposed a 2 month hiatus from dating. Lol, we'll see how long that lasts.
