A legend is gone. I was privileged to see Mr. Hines perform in Jelly's Last Jam with Savion Glover when it was on broadway about 10 or so years ago. Amazing. The man truly had a talent for making the audience feel the music through his constantly moving shoes. I recall being absolutely mesmorized for the duration of the musical. Made me want to go out, grab a pair of tap shoes and just go. Lucky for me a few years ago one of the dance schools around here offered an adult beginner class. Being the adventurous type I am, I signed up. Let me just say it was a lot harder than it looks. Over all though, I had a good time and something I could cross off of my list of things I wanted to do or try at least once in my life.

This was a relatively quiet but busy weekend. Friday night Bob and I watched Gods and Generals after he got out of work. Very long movie but the history buff in me loved it. I may need to see it again though as my drunk room mate and her brother came home about 45 minutes from the end and I missed one of the most crucial and emotional parts. Not that I didn't know what was going to happen. I like to watch for historical accuracy. God I'm such a history nerd. Bob and I went out after the movie was over with some of his work friends. They are such a fun bunch of people! We just drank and chatted until they kicked us out at 2:30 a.m. I didn't get home until around 3. Good times.

Saturday was a day of hockey. After my friend's Mary Kay party I had practice at the home rink for an hour. If you want to call it that. Only three of us showed up again. Looks like I'll be playing for the Blades I guess. After practice ended Jonda, Kim and I went to Kim's house for some hot tub time, beer and pizza. We hung out until our game with the guys at Twin Ponds. That game was interesting. I was all worried we'd get our tushies handed to us but the three of us were some of the better players out there. Definitely an ego boost. Side note, some of my team mates on the Faulkner Fury (the Twin Ponds team) are very easy on the eyes. I'm always afraid to say something though more or less out of fear that they will think the only reason I took up hockey was to meet guys. That is not the case at all! I did it to prove to myself that I could. And to get more exercise. And to just get out and try something new, you know what I mean?

If I happen to meet a nice looking hockey player type in the process, well, then, so be it.
