It's so quiet in the office you could here a pin drop. Or the Mike & Mike show eminating from my radio. Listening to the guys has become a morning ritual.
But I digress.
With so much time on my hands I've been perusing the internet. One of my regular stops is MSNBC.com. Oh, I'll stop at CNN.com and the London Telegraph. It's important to be well rounded in your news sources, don't you know? But what has been catching my eye this morning is some of the coverage of the Tsunami. Some of the survival stories and the descriptions of people searching in vain for lost loved ones is ripping at my heart. Whole villages wiped out. Entire families washed out to sea. Vacationers left clinging to trees in an attempt to save themselves. So sad.
That's why in I plan on helping however I can. Call me a soft bleeding heart liberal (hell, I don't deny it) but those poor people need help. Fast. I was going to use some leftover cash from Christmas to buy myself a new cell phone but instead, I'm donating to the relief cause. There are many different organizations like these listed by Google. My money will be going to Oxfam and the Red Cross.
So let's start the New Year out on a good note. Have fun, get drunk, do whatever the hell you want tonight to ring in 2005, but consider giving something, anything, to help the relief effort on the Indian Ocean Rim. It's the least we can do.
