The longest days

There are some days I am so utterly bored out of my skull at work, I could tear my hair out. Well, not all of it, but just the little uneven bits in the back. It's a drawback to what I do. And if I happen to reply "It's dead up here" when someone asks "How are things going today?" it's considered a joke.

Why a joke? For those six of you who still read this, the full time consists of me spending my day typing in obituaries. Yep. You read that right. I type in obits, do layout for the page (or pages depending on the number we get) and pretty much just act as the Classified Dept's little servant girl. Not very glamorous but it pays the bills.

Today is a "dead" day, if you will. No obits to type. Layout for tomorrow is done. Laminations are finished. Sigh. Now I'm just sitting here, twiddling my thumbs, trying to secretly be on the internet without the higherups noticing.

Not an easy task considering I sit out in the middle of the room with the computer pointed at the walkway behind. God I miss having my own desk. At least the former evil full time I had my own desk and could sneak on the internet a little easier. Not here. Bah.

So now I'm just counting down the minutes until coworker #1 comes in at 12ish and avoiding any eye contact with Mr. Friday Night. I happened by his desk the other morning and noticed the one picture he had tacked up was of him and what I assume was his girlfriend. Bastard. That night we hooked up he told me he didn't have one. Not that it matters now. But it stung a little, just the same.

Just need to make it to next Monday, when room mate #1 and I myself will be in attendance at Camden Yards for Opening Day. Ahhh, I can just picture it now, beer in one hand, crabcake sandwich in the other and hopefully nothing but sunshine.
