Those charm lessons sure did pay off

As the family was getting up from one of my tables Friday, the little girl jumped right in to the conversation and loud as day said "Gee, I'm almost as tall as you are!"

"Yes, you are, and it won't be long before you're taller. You're going to be a big girl."

It was the nicest thing I could think of to reply.

Is it just me or was that not a rude thing to say? If I had said such a thing to a total stranger, I would have been told to apologize. Yes, I'm short, duh, it's pretty damn obvious (I'm only 4'11) but come on. Let's cut me some slack, o.k.?

I never noticed it until I started working at the Lobster but it seems like parents are letting their kids get away with saying or doing whatever the hell they want. It's called respect people. Sure I have a crappy job but you know what, I'm working my tuckus off so you can eat your deep fried, heart attack inducing piece of over cooked fish in a semi-pleasant environment.

If you can take the biscuits out of your mouth long enough to tell you kid to stop throwing food all over the floor that would be great.
