Not so girly girl activities
So now that I have all of this free time on my hands, I'm finally getting down to doing things around the house that sadly, have been neglected. Yesterday I washed my winter coats (because, you know, winter is only 4 months away.) and did some dishes (which mysteriously repopulated overnight). The rest of my laundry was finished. And today, today I tackeld the front steps.
Yes folks, I played with concrete today. And I won.
The front of our steps started crumbling a few months ago. I didn't realize it was as bad as it was until I pulled away for work last week. There was a crack the size of the Grand Canyon on the second step from the bottom and lots of baby cracks leading out from it.
Not pretty.
So after some consultation with my father (our sporadic communication lately is a story for another day) I decided I could take care of the problem myself. So I trekked to Lowe's today, purchased a very small container with some concrete mix and had at it. The hardest part was cleaning the area out per the instructions on the container. Hopefully what I did was enough because I made sure that bitch was free of debris, rocks and dust accumulated over the past 3 centuries (o.k., 3 months.). There wasn't a dust particle to be found.
The cement patching compound went on very well. I was shocked at how easy it was. After 30 minutes I had done a serviceable job on the steps. Heck, I was so proud of my job I was ready to patch the whole damn house.
Then I realized I didn't have time so I spent the rest of the afternoon reading the Sunday newspaper and watching old Bratpack movies on WE (Sixteen Candles. That should be all I have to say.).
Not bad for a Sunday afternoon. Next: sanding My Balcony.
