Another Sunday night and I am waiting for a story to come through. At least this time I might actually have something. The gentleman I want to do a story on looks like he had a very interesting life. When I called his brother to get some information, he asked me call back in about an hour or so because he was "eating his evening meal". Typical PA Dutch. Made me think of my great-grandmother and great-grandfather. They ate their meals like clockwork at the same time everyday. Heaven forbid anything should happen to disrupt that too. I was very lucky to know both of them, they lived well into their 90's. My great-grandfather was quite the character. He had a very jokey personality and spoiled me rotten, I wish I could have asked him more questions about his past while he was still alive. There are so many interesting things I have found out from my grandmother about him and his youth.
Completely enjoyed my quiet weekend. I forgot how much I liked living by myself. Friday I plopped myself in front of the TV, popped in a movie (Bridget Jones' Diary) and proceeded to house an entire bottle of wine. Plus several Smirnoff Ice. Yeah, I was a little drunk. Who cares? I was by myself and it wasn't like I was going to go out driving or anything. Saturday morning at 7 a.m. I went and got my car inspected. Turns out I am going to need new brakes in the near future. Bugger. My car passed inspection, but the brakes will need to be done in the next few months. Figures. After I got home I did some chores around the house and then tried to take a nap before hockey. Notice I said tried. Bob called just as I was drifting off to sleep and talked at me for about 45 minutes. I say "at" because I was only half awake. Something about work and some cool new game he played at this girl Clarissa's house Friday night, blah, blah, blah. After we hung up I tried to go to sleep again but it was no dice. So I went to hockey. We practiced some more and then tried to scrimmage the guys in the novice clinic. Bastards felt like they had something to prove, pushing us all over the place and acting like we were in the NHL. I finally got so pissed off at one point I pushed one of the guys (he's around 6', probably 200lbs) out of my way going after the puck. I can only take that pushing crap for so long before I lose my temper. Anway, our plans to go to the Hardware bar feel through so I ended up going home and going to bed by 10:30. Actually felt good to get more than 5 hours of sleep.
Been eating terribly the past few days. I was so hungery when I got home from hockey last night I ordered a pizza and some breadsticks. Sad part is I ate three pieces of pizza and housed all of the breadsticks! I feel like such a pig. Sigh. Today was no better because I ate two pieces of pizza after church at a meeting for my new sunday school class. Definitely need to get back on track with my diet and do better with getting to the gym. I already have planned on taking my clothes with me to work and going straight there after I leave. I find I do better with that when I make myself go right away instead of going home and finding excuses not to.
Sorry for the rambling. I had a lot of things floating around in my head today. Sadly not one of them resembled a brain. I will leave you with this however. It's the end of an era.
Until later kiddies.
