We are at war. Again. Didn't we just do this 12 years ago? Same Bush, different decade.
I seem to have ticked off one of my college friends with my political views. This morning I had a forward in my email from someone that was a "prayer wheel" for the soldiers in Iraq. I know you've all seen this thing, I've received a couple of times now. It's basically for those of who want to show support for our military men and women. But I digress. Being the sucker I am for forwards I sent it on, with thoughts of my friend Kyecha's husband Brian (in the Marines) and my sister's boyfriend James (also a Marine) in my head. What ticked off my friend was the comment I put at the top before I sent it out. If I recall correctly it went something like this "Although I do not agree with our President or his actions I am sending this on in support of our military folks who need our thoughts and prayers right now." She took offense to the part about the President. Sorry, but I just can not support His Accidency Bush Jr. or some of the motivations he has for this war.
Call me a bleeding heart liberal Democrat if you want (I am a long time registered Democrat). Call me a leftist pinko Communist or whatever, but don't criticize me for having opinions other than those of our President. The important part in all of this is getting behind our military and letting the people fighting this war that even though I may not agree with the reasons they are there I do understand they are doing their duty for our country. That's all I have to say about that!
This whole thing has me so down right now I can't even get into the NCAA Tournament. In keeping with my loyalty to Duke I have them winning the whole thing even though I know deep down it probably won't happen. Too many young players. Not enough confidence away from Cameron. We'll see though. If they make it to the Elite Eight it will still be a major victory. Just as long as those damn turtles and Syracuse get out first.
I will not get the sympathy card this year!
