Anyone catch the eclipse tonight? Since I am at work I am going to miss it. That's o.k. though, the weather's crappy in my neck of the woods and I wouldn't be able to see anything anyway. Whenever there is a major celestial (like that $1.50 word?) event occuring, my friends and I go to Mt. Pisgah to watch. The light pollution isn't so bad and you can see about a million stars on a clear night.

I'm seriously going back to the diet. No let me rephrase that, I am seriously and once and for all going to change my eating habits and lifestyle for the better. I started thinking about pulling out my summer clothes yesterday and realized in a moment of panic that I may not be able to fit back into some of my clothes from last year. That wasn't the real catalyst though. What is really pushing me is the fact that at hockey last night, we scrimmaged for about 10 minutes at the end of practice and by the fourth minute in, I was winded. Not good. I thought I was in shape, I know I'm not. At least not where I'll need to be for the team once league play starts. So beginning Monday (I'm giving myself the weekend still) I'm going to drop this extra weight hanging around. I have a pretty good idea about how I want to do it:

The Plan

1. Count Calories. While the L.A. Weight Loss plan worked for me two years ago, I had to take some pretty freaky supplements. Yeah, they helped in the weightloss but if I want to lose this time and keep it off for good, I need to do it a little more smartly. I am pretty sure that by watching my calories and controlling portion sizes, I will make a change that I can stick with.

2. Exercise more. I paid money for my gym card and I only use it once a week if I'm lucky. I'm going to start keeping my gym clothes in a bag in my car so I can go right there after work or if I can't get there after work, at least get a cardio workout in over my lunch hour.

3. Focus on the positive. I remember how good it felt to buy those clothes two sizes smaller than what I was when I started L.A. Weight Loss. I remember the looks I got from guys when I was thinner, the extra energy and the better sleep. This is for the best.

4. Buy a scale. I don't have one of my own. Room mate Marti has one but I hate having to go into her bathroom to use it. On my shopping trip tomorrow to Old Navy I'm goint to stop in at Linens and Things next door. I don't intend on leaving until I have a half decent scale. While I can track what's going on by the way my clothes fit, weighing myself at least twice a week will help.

5. Keep a food journal. Every other time I've tried to lose weight since L.A. was only half hearted. I have a big bulky book I was writing in but because it took up so much room in my purse I ended up ditching it. Tomorrow I'm going to stop at Wal-Mart or Target and see if I can find a small notebook to write in. I am also going to add a food journal to the blog. I want you guys and girls that read this to hold me accountable. That is part of what helped me at L.A. Schlepping across town twice a week was a royal pain in the patootie but it made me be accountable to someone for what I was eating. I'm still working on the link for you all to email me and I'd like to put a comments section in here somewhere. If anyone has any ideas email me at agategoddess@hotmail.com.

That's it. I've rambled enough. Monday it begins again. I want to say thank you to The Diet Chick. Since I started reading her blog she has been very inspirational. She's been through and is going through a lot of the same things I have so that has made me feel a comraderie with her and the other people reading her blog. I would like to think if we lived in the same area, we would hang out.

On that note, I'm Audie 5000.
