Let's talk about sitting in a 2 hour rain delay. Make that 2-1/2 hour rain delay Friday night. Bob and I made it to Baltimore around 5:30ish after fighting local traffic and a wrong turn that almost put us on to 395. We eventually made our way through a very shady neighborhood near Raven's Stadium (parking lot F) and walked to Camden Yards with about 45 minutes to spare. Dinner was in one of the over priced "cafe's" on Eutaw St. Food wasn't too bad price wise, unless you consider $8 for some chicken fingers and fries overpriced. O.k., maybe it was a little on the high side.
But I digress. We had sweet seats just on the foul side of the right field foul pole. Almost had a ball but since I didn't want to injure myself I decided not to dive for it. The kid next to me got it. He was about 6. He probably could have kicked my butt over it. The rain began just after the first out of the game. I wanted to sit and tough it out. Bob made the executive decision to go underneath for a beer. So I followed. We meandered underneath the stadium while it poured buckets and loud cracking lightening hit all around. Met a nice couple from Wilmington there to see a game for the first time with their young son. I think they thought we were married. Bought a new orange O's hat (like I need one more) to cover up my stringy limp hair, which I had actually done something with I might add. Drank some Yuengling Lager and watched stupid people jump around in the badly draining area just outside of the concourse area. Idiots. Finally were let back into our seats around 9, saw three more innings and got caught in the rain again. This time we ran into Bambino's Pub on Eutaw. Bob drank some more. I sucked down water and told him about the stupid girl in the bathroom who was getting sick from drinking too much. Lol, even the cleaning ladies were making fun of her. It was gross but funny. We stayed until the end of the seventh inning and hightailed it home. Not before I jumped in a few puddles on the way back to the car though. Tee-hee.
I think I walked in the door around 1:15 a.m. God was I tired. But I still got up yesterday by 9! The Great Closet Clean Up 2003 kicked off yesterday. I tried to hire a marching band and Al Gore to do the ribbon cutting ceremony but Marti wouldn't let me. She's such a pary pooper sometimes. So far I've got four bags (that's large garbage bags by the way) of clothes, purses and yes even shoes to take to our local Good Will. I was going to do it yesterday after I cleaned up a little bit but was so tired I just crashed on the couch and watched a movie. I think I hit my bed around 11. God I lead such an exciting life.
I did end up getting something for my father for today. My sister guilted me into it. We went to one of the local malls and bought him a new watch. Something he could wear at work and bang around without worrying about it breaking. I don't know. I guess he liked it. He's still working two jobs (not that I have any room to talk) so he got his gifts this afternoon after I was already at my second job. He also gave my mom a hand written note saying he would be officially moving back into the house today. Yeah, right. I'll believe it when I see it. The real question is, will he stay? My dad has done this before. Moved in and then bolted in a month or so. Sad to say but I don't have any faith in that man what so ever.
On a brighter note my old high school friends and I are planning a 10 year reunion of our Senior Week trip! We are such a bunch of goofballs. Granted it will probably be just Anne, Leslie, Bob and I but should be fun just the same. Most of the original 9 of us (we had a house in Ocean City, MD on 127th St., ocean side) are either married, married with kids or out of the area. It will be nice just to get away for a full weekend. Not really be on any kind of schedule and just relax.
Relax? Hmmm, there's a new concept.
