What a great weekend! It was so nice to see all of the old gang from college. I've been friends with the girls since freshman year (back in the dark ages 10 years ago) and they are the most wonderful group of people I know. Every minute we got to hang out was well worth the 6 hour drive into the mountains of Virginia.
Kelly's wedding was gorgeous, she was practically glowing. The reception rocked too. Jess and hubby Chris, Yvonne and hubby Russ, Steph, Kristina and I all had a table to ourselves. Sweetness. We got to be as goofy as we wanted to be and nobody was around to be overly offended. Lol. Good times, good times. The best part of the weekend? Saturday morning when I went for my run on the campus of Virginia Tech and I was mistaken for a college student three times! Woo-hoo! Not bad considering I'm six years out into the real world. Heck, one of the times a college guy asked me if I was going out later on. I said "Sure!" and kept moving. Tee-hee. I should have asked him where the party was. That would have been a trip, I haven't been to a college party in a loooong time. I probably would have passed out after my second beer. The old tolerence isn't what it used to be.
We've decided we need to get together more than once every two years (seems to be the ongoing average time between reunions). Yvonne and Jess suggested that it was time for Kristina, Steph or myself to get ourselves hitched. I prefer the idea Steph and I had instead. Assuming we are still single when we turn *gulp* 30 in two years, a mass celebration will be had that will include a birthday shower as well as the birthday extravaganza. This way, we can get paid back for all of the showers, wedding and baby we have been attending almost non-stop for the past six years. There will still be the birthday extravaganza even if one or both of us are in a relationship (serious or otherwise). Just no shower.
This is why I am glad I'm not Catholic and why I will never be a Republican. Who knew that such a worthy cause would actually be the cause of such turmoil? Speaking of politcal turmoil, tomorrow is the big day in the state of confusion, I mean California. Can't wait to see what happens with it. Big fun. Especially since I don't have to vote in it.
Check out this story on ESPN.com. At first I was all for it. Then I was more than slightly offended by it. Contrary to what some people may thing there are girls out there that can handle a football. I was taught proper throwing technique in the 6th grade and never once have I executed a "girl" throw since. Some have been wobbley and there have been some major wounded ducks in the bunch but never ONCE have I tried to throw with the same foot forward as my throwing arm. What kind of moron does such a thing?! You don't even throw a baseball like that! Why, in heaven's name would a person (any person) throw a football like that. Watch the video of the author throwing. Not to brag or anything, but I think I could get at least another five yards more than she did.
None of the quizes I saw struck my fancy. Maybe if I have time I'll actually attempt to make one on my own. Ha, that was funny...if I have time...ha, ha, ha...
