Today I let my penchant for nosiness get to me. On the way to church this morning I swung by one of the houses that Bob is looking at buying. It is in the same neighborhood as the high school we graduated from. Two stories, three bedrooms, nice backyard. Very cute. The perfect first home. He is going to take a look at it tomorrow with his realtor. I hope it looks as nice on the inside as it does on the outside. I'm glad he's involving me in his house hunting process. Ultimately it will be his decision. Hey, he's the one that will be paying the mortgage. Not me. I guess since he figures I'll be there a lot I might as well be supplying an opinion on what's good and what's..well...not so good. Truth be told I'm glad he wants to stay here. Hey, if I'm stuck in this crappy town then so should he. Misery loves company.

Friday night I did relax. I know, I know, hold the presses. Hard to believe but the stars were in perfect alignment and I had a night all to myself (at least until 9:30). To celebrate I finally went out and bought the new Sarah McLachlan cd Afterglow. It's wonderful. I am a big fan of her music and listening to this cd it is hard to believe she was out of the music scene for almost six years. It's a good thing Afterglow came out when it did, my copy of Mirrorball was starting to get worn out. But I digress. I watched a movie until Bob called after work. We watched another movie (he is getting DVD's from Netflix), the original Ocean's Eleven with Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and the whole Rat Pack. Very good movie but as blasphemous as this sounds I think I like the more recent version better. I recently heard there will be a sequel coming out next year. I hope it's as good as I am expecting it to be.

The rest of my weekend was the usual organized chaos. Yesterday I had two hockey games. The Blades lost (but we're getting better) and my rookie league team won. So on the whole I came out even there. Beyond hockey my Saturday was actually pretty uneventfull. I finally found my chili recipe and got so excited I ran out to the grocery store to get the ingredients. Wednesday night my parents and some other friends are coming over for dinner. This time I will remember to soak the beans for 24 hours prior to making the chili. Hand to god, the first time I used this recipe I didn't soak the beans and it came out a little..um..crunchy. For the record there was no mention of soaking any beans in the cookbook. My mom got a good laugh out of it when I called her for advice.

Ha, ha. Last time I checked my name was not Julia Child.

Funniest news story of the day. We got a good chuckle out of this one in the newsroom...we're a sick bunch of people.
