Federal Court Upholds Alabama's Ban On Sex Toys
POSTED: 11:16 am EDT July 29, 2004
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- There's no constitutional right to a vibrator.

That's the gist of a ruling from a federal appeals court. In a 2-1 decision, the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals has upheld an Alabama ban on the sale of sex toys. The court ruled the Constitution doesn't include a right to sexual privacy.

The court said if the people of Alabama feel the sex toy ban is just plain silly, they can repeal the law.

Sherri Williams owns the Pleasures stores in two Alabama cities and was among those who filed suit to overturn the law. She says the decision against her is depressing. But Williams says she intends to pursue the sex toy legal issue.
