The whole process of the selection of the new pope was completely fascinating to me.
Not because I'm Catholic, because I'm not. I was raised United Methodist.
It fascintated me because it seems as if there are very few occasions anymore where a good portion of the world stops. And I mean stops, in anticiaption of the naming of a new leader. Any new leader. Hell, the election of W the second time around didn't even garner a pause in trading on Wall Street. Or so much as raised an eyebrow in other parts of the world.
Wednesday I just happened to be in the break room when it was anonounced someone had been picked. People were screaming like they were at a rock concert. I mean, come on here, I know we're all excited but let's chill out a little bit until we know who we're dealing with.
And judging by all that I've read about Pope Benedict XVI, I'm not going to be converting anytime soon. Holy conservative Batman.
