Discombobulated

Forgive me if this post is a little disjointed. As I sit here typing I have The Rock playing on the Monster in the Corner (my not so affectionate name for the 60" HDTV Room Mate #1 bought a few months ago), while I make phone calls, while I bake cookies, while I get a goody box together for my friend JP.

Let's just say multi-tasking is getting to be one of my strong suits.

Life, unfortunately has not slowed down one bit as I thought it would. Baseball season is in full swing and while I only work the nights when the team is in town, that still leaves me with a heck of a lot to get done in a short time. Laundry needs to be finished (next on my list). My bedroom is in serious need of an EPA style super cleanup. The bathroom needs to be scrubbed from ceiling to floor and tub to toilet. There just aren't enough hours in the day lately, even with the extended daylight.

Someday I'm hoping things will calm down a little and I'll be able to just come home and freaking relax. Of course, I'd also have to give up my new title as TBD's official relationship therapist. You'd think by this stage of the game the boy would have some clue, but no, that isn't the case at all. We had a nice "conversation" about his recent exploits on Sunday night. The problem lies in that he wants to have his cake and eat it too. At the beginning of the summer he was dating this delightful girl named Megan. And just like with me, he was all gung-ho at the start calling all of the time, emailing, texting, going out as much as possible. I have since come to find out (Megan called me Friday night) that over the last two weeks he has been pulling that timeless classic, the disappearing act. Come on ladies, you know what I'm talking about. All communication is cut off and you don't hear from them again...he did the same thing to me when we dated last year.

I told him it's not cool. If you aren't interested anymore then fine, come out and say it, it's not fair to string someone along like that if you don't want to be serious. It's not fair to Megan or any girl for that matter. Of course, in all of this, I know he's gotten himself a little summer fling going with another girl. That's a whole different situation because while I adore the girl (we met in Wildwood a few weeks ago) I don't like the situation.

During our conversation he agreed with me. He knows I'm right, he needs to end it with Megan if he isn't going to be serious like he said he wanted to be with her. I told him it was time to step up and act like an adult. A little harsh, but as we are now so close, I feel he can take me being blunt with him. That and someone needs to set this boy straight. So tonight they were going to go to dinner and he was going to bring things to an end.

We'll see. Somehow I don't quite think that's what is going to happen. He is a man after all and they do love their cake.

Now, now, we're not all bad.

Are we?

Yes, in my experience you are. But every now and then I'm willing to overlook the more minor annoying things.

I've still got a small sliver of hope that there's one, out there, somewhere.

You are too cynical my dear.

Someday, we should exchange e-mail addresses.
