Is it a coincidence that Halloween and Election day (Nov. 2 just in case you've been living in a hole somewhere) are so close this year? I think not. Depending on which side of the aisle you fall on the outcome of Tuesday's election could be the scariest part of your week. Due to my unwaivering support of the Democratic party, the thought of four more years with W's economic policies scares me more than any creepy crawly. Shudder.

MSNBC had a nice piece today about Halloween (Samhain) and it's history. Leave it to us Irish to import something that turns into one of the biggest party nights of the year. My great-grandmother's birthday would have been Saturday. She always made a big deal out of the holiday (she was Welsh/Irish) for us kids. Lots of treats for all of the grandkids and great-grandkids, decorations all over the place and she always wore a costume to hand out treats. Maybe that's why I put such stock in the holiday. Well, that and St. Patrick's Day which is the most important holiday of the year.

Also, in the interest of educating you, my loyal readers (all six of you), please take the time to understand where each candidate stands on the issues at hand. Being educated before you go to the polls will not only give you more confidence in whichever lever you pull but more power as you make a choice we'll all have to deal with for the next four years. See this site at, again (can you tell it's my favorite...o.k., 2nd favorite, source for news?), MSNBC.com.
