Hair raising experience

The thoughts of what it could be are driving me nuts.

A simple movement, just reaching my hand around the side of my neck like I've done so many times before, could be leading me toward...well, I don't know. This morning I found a sizeable lump on the side of my neck. Right below my hairline, just above where my neck slopes down to meet my shoulder. It's just sitting there...not causing pain. Not itching. Just there.

And it's freaking me the hell out.

Opinion around the office is that it's either 1) a swollen gland or 2) a bug bite gone awry. I'm not even going to get into the mass of theories swirling around in my own head. If I do, I might just loose it and today, I just can't afford to do that. Because at various points in my life I was a smoker. I've done things I'm not proud of that involved smoking something other nicotine. But I don't anymore.

So I've started the paperwork in getting myself in to see my new doctor. Something I should have done almost two years ago when I was forced to switch due to a change in insurance and jobs. I'm hoping he'll tell me it's nothing. Just a swollen gland, here, go take these pills and that should make you all better.

But that's not how I operate. And it's taking me all the control in the world not to jump off the deep end and google "lumps on the neck". Right now, all I need to do is just get through my day. And we'll see what happens from there.

The same thing happened to me. And I got really freaked out too. So I went and saw my doctor who told me it was a swollen reaction gland caused by my alleriges. I have bad allergies that cause all kinds of things for me, but he said it was a manifestation of that. He put me on a antibiotic and it was gone in a week. However, he did say that I would eventually start experiencing itchy scalp, which I did. Chinese anti-itch shampoo is the cure for that. Don't worry. All will be fine!
